Pick my heart up from the trash,

I’ll be right back in a flash.

I will gather the dirt specks from all around,

Please don’t mind it was on the ground.

It fell right out upon the floor,

Then made it’s way right out the door.

He ripped it out with a bit of force,

I tried to catch it, but of course.

My hands were just not up to the task,

Where it landed please just don’t ask.

I will shine it up good as new,

Mind the holes, there are a few.

It simply needs a quick kick start,

And if you would, please be gentle with my heart.

Beverly Beekmans (April 2010)

This poem is a “playful” look at something that is serious..heartbreak and rebuilding.
